Council History
by Brother Dan Hoffman

The Council of the Rock (COR) was established September 9th 2010.

Jerry Estrada was our first Grand Knight. This was actually his second time because he was the Grand Knight over at St. John Newman's parish before our council broke off with SEAS parish members.

It is appropriate to acknowledge John Piccolo who was the District Deputy and helped us with the paperwork to establish our Council, our Council Banner, and attend to officer installation ceremonies for the first half of the decade.

There were 26 Knights in our Parish that came with him that are founders of our Council.  They recruited me that Fall, 2010 while I was out of work, they even paid my dues that year until I got back to work.

Jeff Nameth has been the Council Treasurer every year; 10 years and counting. The Financial Secretary was Lionel DeLuna, who served for two 3 year terms: 6 years.  Alex Sakovsky became a COR Knight mid-decade and has finished a 3-year term as Financial Secretary and has agreed to continue as Financial Secretary for another year.

The first full Columbian Calendar year began July 2011 to June 2012,  George Malouf became our Grand Knight.

The COR's Second Columbian Calendar year 2012 to 2013 Ed Camacho was Grand Knight.

In 2013-2014, Bill Gottbreht stepped up to be Grand Knight.

In 2014-2015, Dan Hoffman (me)  took the reins as Grand Knight trying to payback the $50 with a labor of service.

In 2015-2016, Agnel Kagoo was Grand Knight.

In 2016-2017, Rich Martel became Grand Knight.  COR actually hosted our first 3rd degree Ceremony that year.

In 2017-2018,  I took on being Grand Knight a 2nd time around.

In back to back performances 2018-2019 and 2019 to 2020 George Malouf has run our council as Grand Knight.  So that makes a trifecta of Service!  There's no such thing as a Trifecta Grand Knight honorarium.

And now starting the next decade off is Mike Caruso 2020 to 2021 as Grand Knight.

I should mention, that Steve Greco, in addition to being our parish Deacon for many years has been there effectively filling in as COR's acting Chaplain.

And Bill Gottbreht is the first Grand Knight to run out of town on us to end the decade saying that he wants to live near his kids instead of us brother Knights. Well, it's thinner air and he may profess he's closer to God up there in the Rockies. Technically he will weigh less, being further from the center of the earth.
